The Castle Dome Mines Museum is located within Kofa National Wildlife Refuge and is about 10 miles east of Highway 95 at Mile 55. The Cocopah Museum is a cultural center that features a variety of traditional Native American artifacts and displays, including beadwork, pottery, and tattoos.

The garden features over twenty acres of beautiful desert plants, a watershed model, and a wide range of old farm equipment. In addition to the museums, Yuma has an old prison that is still open. Yuma’s Chain Gang, which operated for 33 years, held 3,069 men and women. During that time, 111 inmates died in the prison. The prison serves as a museum, and is a part of the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area. There are plenty of other historical sites and interesting artifacts to explore during your visit to Yuma.
You can also visit the Cocopah Indian Tribe Reservation. This National Historic Landmark has three non-contiguous bodies of land along the Colorado River. The tribe is active in habitat restoration along the river. It is also home to the Cocopah Casino, an 1848 fort, and an RV & Golf Resort. The museum also offers a picnic area.
